DESCRIPTION - The Kansas City Keyer Model KC-1 was introduced in 1984 at the Dayton Hamvention and was sold by Lance Johnson Engineering until 1989.

DESIGN - The KC-1 was brilliantly designed by Jeff Russell and Bud Southard of Cedar Rapids, Iowa who have authored many CW related articles in QST and the ARRL Handbook. The original features set was finalized with the help of the East Iowa DX Association, who beta tested the prototype designs. The KC-1 was one of the first Microprocesor based CW keyers ever sold and set a standard for the CW Contest Community.

SERVICE - Lance Johnson Engineering has spare parts and can service the KC-1 for a nominal LABOR fee of $15.00 with an additional charge for Parts and Return Shipping.

KANSAS CITY KEYER SPECIAL RESET - Owners of the Kansas City Keyer Model KC-1 should always try the SPECIAL RESET before sending the unit to Lance Johnson Engineering for service. The SPECIAL RESET will return the 6502 Microprocessor of the KC-1 to an initialization state that might correct a problem caused by simple lock up.

You will need to turn the KC-1 on and then follow these FOUR Steps:

1. Press and HOLD IN the RESET Switch.

2. Press and HOLD in the (*) Key.

3. Release the RESET Switch. You will hear a continuous BEEP.
